Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a member of Congress and a former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. She began her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to her move to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she was the San Francisco district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for health care, federal de-scheduling and the legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She was praised nationally for her provocative examination of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings, including Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of sexual assault.
